Virgil Village ADU

A backyard shed–turned-350 sf Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) with a massive pink periscope skylight waves hello to the passersby. The roof plays on banal LA building vernacular by utilizing privacy fence slats that undulate under the sun. 

 

The fence perimeter creates a pair of outdoor rooms to give the space an indoor-outdoor flavor and capitalize on LA’s great weather. Volume was valued over footprint in this approach as the interior space rises to approximatley 13 feet. Intentionally dramatic, this tiny home boast a big personality reminisent of a ‘70s lawn tchotchke.
